"The Eucharist is not a reward for good conduct, but it is spiritual food for each of us," said Fr. Bogusław Binda, MIC, superior of the Lichen community of Marian priests and brothers, during today's homily on the feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of the Lord in Licheń (June 3).
Holy Mass started at 10.00 at the coronation altar located near the parish church of st. Dorothy. The concelebration of the Holy Eucharist was attended by Fr. Rafał Krauze, MIC, pastor of the Licheń parish.
In the occasional homily, Fr. Binda said that "today the sacrifice of Jesus is made present to us in a bloodless manner." The priest added that in today's celebration we are not focusing on the passion of Jesus Christ but on its saving fruits. - "Today we want to testify to them with our presence, following Jesus in a solemn procession."
The Superior Prince also emphasized that whenever we look to the mystery of Jesus' presence in the Blessed Sacrament, we want to become like Him, because we want to go through life with Jesus and we also want a spiritual change to take place in us. - "This is the love of Christ - it requires sacrifice, sacrifice, sacrifice" - said the priest.
Speaking about the Eucharist, Fr. Binda explained that She is something we have for now, for this moment, and then return to our daily duties. - “However, we should feel the desire to follow Jesus out of presence, in communion with Him. The Eucharist is not a ritual or duty. Every day, especially on Sundays, we want to realize that this is not an obligation, but a need - the more I accept the Eucharistic Christ into my heart, the more hunger grows "- emphasized the priest.
- “The Eucharist is not a reward for good conduct, but it is spiritual food for us. The closer we are to Christ, the more we unite with him. It is difficult to understand yourself, let alone another person, without Christ. And yet the most beautiful commandment of all tells us about the love of God and neighbor. The Eucharist is precisely this sacrament of love, because Christ, with the power he gives us, makes us become other people "- continued the homily.
The priest wished all those present at today's feast of Corpus Christi, that they would open their hearts anew to Christ. "Let us open ourselves to the gift of the Body and Blood of Christ, and then we will not get lost in life" - concluded Fr. Binda.
After the end of the Mass. priests, liturgical assistance and the faithful went in procession to 4 altars. This year, due to sanitary restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the Eucharistic procession did not take to the streets of Lichen. All 4 altars were located around the parish church of st. Dorothy: the first by the Lichen Golgotha, the second by the monument to Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński, the third at the monument to Tomasz Kłosowski, and the last, fourth, at the coronation altar, where the Holy Eucharist was previously concelebrated. Today's celebrations were organized in accordance with sanitary requirements, including the 1.5-meter social distance between the faithful. The ceremony was graced by the Virtus Dei parish choir, conducted by the organist, Mr. Michał Jagodziński.
