Parenthood - the most beautiful vocation
Parents' Day of Prayers for Parents under the slogan "Parents in the Mother's House" was held on September 5 at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Licheń.
Parenthood is a gift and a responsibility, Fr. Janusz Kumala, MIC, custodian of the Lichen sanctuary, welcoming pilgrims to the main Mass. A gift because it is God who gives the grace of parenthood, entrusts parents with a new life, children, and cares for them. Parenthood is also a responsibility for the entrusted life and accompanying your children. Being a mom and dad never ends, it's a task that always lasts. - We are looking at the miraculous image of Our Lady of Lichen, Mary gathers us as her children in this temple and leads us to Christ. This is the most important moment of the Lord's Day - meeting Christ and welcoming Him to our heart in Holy Communion - said the curator of the Lichen sanctuary.
During the homily, a letter from the Polish Bishops' Conference on the occasion of the beatification of Card. Stefan Wyszyński and M. Elżbieta Róża Czacka, which will be held next Sunday.
After the Eucharist, Fr. Janusz Kumala said a prayer for his parents: “Almighty, eternal God, we thank You for our parents. After you, God, we owe them the most. They were your co-workers in giving us the gift of life and living faith. It was them who, sparing their energy and work, put a lot of care into our education and upbringing. Father God, let us appreciate their efforts and be grateful to them for everything. And you, with your grace, reward their efforts, give them health and all the graces that are needed for their happiness and salvation ... ”.
Before blessing the parents, the curator thanked them for the beautiful fulfillment of their vocation. - The fact that you are here is a sign that the most important in your life is God, whom you pass on to your children. I wish you to persevere in this task, so that you do not get discouraged by difficulties. God, by giving the grace of parenthood, also gives the necessary graces to meet this most beautiful vocation. Be persistent also when your children have distanced themselves from God. Stay in prayer, because parents' prayers are always answered - he assured.
