During the three-day meeting, pastors discussed current issues related to the area of their ministry, incl. they have been working on preparing a retreat program for energy professionals in the coming year.
"Today, energy is a strategic commodity, without which we cannot imagine our lives. The energy community should be supported from the spiritual side, so that these people treat their work as a service to society" - said Fr. Sławomir Zyga, the national priest of electricians, energetics and electronics specialists during the annual meeting of the priests of the above-mentioned professional group.

According to the priest, electricians and energy workers often remain in the shadow of firefighters or miners, despite the fact that their work is equally hard and sacrificial. In Poland, there are two associations of electricians, energy specialists and electronics engineers: the Association of Polish Electrical Engineers (SEP), which will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year, and the Catholic Association of Electrical Engineers "Nazaret", which supports the national pastoral care in this professional group. SEP has 24,000 members and is the largest professional technical association in our country.
The Licheń meeting, which took place from 22 to 24 October this year, was attended by 10 out of 15 priests of electricians, energy and electronics specialists, among others from Kozienice, Bełchatów, Gdańsk, Poznań and Turów. The organizer of the retreat was Fr. Sławomir Zyga, the national chaplain of electricians, energy and electronics engineers. The retreat took place at the Ark Pilgrim House located near the Basilica of St. Blessed Virgin Mary of Licheń.
Today nobody can imagine life without electricity. In the event of natural disasters, such as floods, storms or fires, our mentality has become used to the fact that the media reports how many people are left without electricity. It is a measure of the strength of this cataclysm. This shows how dependent we are on electricity as a society
