Palm Sunday, i.e. Passion Sunday - we are entering Holy Week

Today we are entering Holy Week. For us believers, this is the beginning of a holy time. Over the next few days, Jesus will reveal the depths of his love for us.

Main Mass in front of the miraculous painting of Our Lady of Licheń, it was celebrated at 12.00. It was chaired by Fr. Janusz Kumala, MIC, custodian of the Lichen sanctuary. After the solemn reading of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the custodian custodian recalled the situation of Ukraine to which our thoughts go every day, and even more so during Holy Week. - Ukraine suffers and is being crucified. It is impossible not to ask the question: Lord God, why do you allow this to happen? Does evil win over good? The answer is Jesus Christ, who came into the world to save it through suffering, death and resurrection. Christ gives the answer that death is not stronger than life, and good will always prevail. However, in order for us to understand and accept it, we must open ourselves to the action of God who is Love and accept Him into our hearts - explained Fr. Kumala.
The liturgy of the Church commemorates on that day the solemn entry of the Lord Jesus into Jerusalem, which is mentioned by all four Evangelists. Solemn Masses they begin with the rite of blessing the palms and the procession to the church.

The blessing of the palms is like Jesus' entry into Jerusalem. The welcoming people then called him King and glorified God. Several days passed, and the same King accepted the passion and death for our sins.

He once again encouraged, following the words of the Gospel, not only to observe the situation, be content with peace, but also to cry out to God for a change of hearts during the days of Holy Week. They entered the mystery of Christ's presence among us, opened themselves to God's mercy and supported sisters and brothers from Ukraine. - Let's try to make a discovery in Holy Week: God loves you, he gives you life, this is the best way to convince us of his love for eternity. Do I want to be closer to God and experience His mercy in the sacraments, or do I feel His closeness and forgiveness? - prompted the celebrant to reflect. The second discovery concerns others, do we look at all people with love? - On those who defend themselves, but also with love on the aggressors, those who kill? It is possible because God knows that only such love is capable of changing a heart that does evil. If there is no forgiveness and no good in us, it will not be in the world. Let this be the resolution of Holy Week - a look at other people with love - encouraged Fr. Janusz Kumala.

On Palm Sunday, which begins Holy Week, palm trees, a symbol of Christ's victory over death, were consecrated in the Lichen basilica. After each Mass celebrated today, a fair of Christmas decorations was held in the porch of the main basilica. Pilgrims could buy palm trees and other Christmas decorations. The income from the sale will be allocated to terminally ill patients of the Hospice. st. Stanisław Papczyński in Licheń. Palm trees and Easter decorations were prepared by students of primary schools in Licheń and Wąsosze, as well as ladies from Rural Housewives' Clubs from Licheń and Kiev, and hospice volunteers.
