The Day of the Promotion of Honorary Blood Donation was held in the Basilica of Our Lady of Licheń under the slogan "Your blood can save someone's life".
On Sunday morning, 35 people decided to donate blood at the Sanctuary. While observing the sanitary rules, the action was started by, inter alia, Sanctuary employees, parishioners, pilgrims and local residents. Despite the fact that about half of those willing to donate blood were qualified, more than 8 liters of blood were donated during the donation process. The collection took place for the second time, as in the previous year, in the room of the Shroud of Turin. In this way, the Sanctuary wishes to celebrate the 101st anniversary of the birth of St. John Paul II, which falls on May 18.
Blood is needed every day. Hospitals carry out surgeries every day and people get injured. We sincerely thank everyone who came to the Sanctuary today and wanted to share this precious gift!
