The 39th Working People's Pilgrimage to Our Lady of Licheń arrived in Licheń on Sunday afternoon. This year, the pilgrims were accompanied by the slogan "With Mary in defense of faith".
Pilgrims from Konin in Licheń appeared after 15. In front of the statue of St. John Paul II in the old part of the sanctuary said the chaplet of Divine Mercy. They were greeted by Fr. Marek Kordaszewski, MIC, parish vicar, who thanked for the effort put in the pilgrimage and bearing witness to living faith. The pilgrims in the basilica were greeted by Fr. Janusz Kumala, MIC, the curator of the Lichen sanctuary, who referred to the words of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński on the Miraculous Image of Our Lady of Licheń: "This image contains a program for Poland for the second millennium of faith". - We are safe with Our Lady's heart, and Jesus is in her heart. We will protect our faith if we are close to Jesus and to Mary, he added.
The custodian priest also recalled that the Primate of the Millennium, during the coronation of the Miraculous Image of Our Lady of Licheń, called Our Lady of Licheń the Lady of the Konin Region. He encouraged the faithful, who were present at common prayer, to entrust her with all their matters - personal, professional and social.
Before the end of the Mass, Fr. Wysocki read the prayer of Fr. Piotr Skarga for the Homeland. In turn, Fr. Łukasz Grabiasz, the church assistant of the Catholic Action in the Włocławek diocese, read a letter sent to the pilgrimage participants by Bishop Krzysztof Wętkowski, the ordinary of the Włocławek diocese. In the letter, the bishop thanked, among others Fr. Józef Wysocki for many years of service in the parish of st. Wojciech and activities related to spreading patriotic attitudes (on August 31, Father Józef Wysocki will cease to serve as the parish priest in Konin parish). In turn, Fr. Janusz Kumala, MIC, thanked for the friendship that Fr. Józef had a great deal for the Licheń sanctuary. As an expression of gratitude and remembrance, the custodian priest handed Fr. Wysocki, the icon of Our Lady of Lichen.
