On the day of remembering St. Lawrence, patron of the Pelplin diocese, pilgrims who participated in the bicycle pilgrimage of this diocese to Jasna Góra were prayed at the Marian Sanctuary in Licheń Stary.
In Licheń, the pilgrims were welcomed by Fr. Adam Stankiewicz, MIC, the deputy custodian of the sanctuary, who said that the effort put into crossing almost all of Poland on bicycles would certainly bring good spiritual fruits (10/08).
The bicycle pilgrimage of the Pelplin Diocese to Jasna Góra takes place for the 23rd time.
“The beautiful thing is that the pandemic did not stop us. This year we are also going. Due to last year's limits, new groups were created this year, now there are five. The weather is good for us, and so is the mood. We also visit beautiful corners of our country, ”said Fr. Tomasz Syldatk, head of the pilgrimage.
The pilgrims arrived in Licheń yesterday afternoon. The evening was a time of rest and relaxation for them. The pilgrims could also visit the sanctuary. At. At 21.00 the group went to the basilica to pray together during the Marian assembly. This morning, in turn, they participated in the Holy Mass. in the Holy Trinity Chapel in the lower part of the Licheń temple.
A bicycle pilgrimage from the Pelplin diocese to Jasna Góra is divided into 5 groups: people from Lębork, Kościerzyna, Kartuzy, Chojnice and Pelplin (the Kociewie group) travel there. A total of 150 people.
- “The pilgrims from Lębork have to cover the greatest distance - almost 600 km. The other groups are slightly less. Every day we travel about 70 km. We do not push the pace, because it is also important to experience this time well and worthwhile. Thanks to this trip, pilgrims take part in retreats on the way - they have time for reflection, for catechesis, for common conversations, ”added Fr. Thomas.
In Częstochowa, the 23rd Bicycle Pilgrimage of the Pelplin Diocese will appear on August 13 in the morning. After joining the diocesan walking pilgrimage, both groups will enter Jasna Góra Monastery together.
